Celebration of the 17th Foundation Day of Mahila Swaraj Manc

 


  • The Mahila Swaraj Manch has been performing significant work for the last two decades in 40 villages of Shihor and Umrala talukas.
  • The organization focuses on women's empowerment, active participation in Panchayati Raj, and leadership development.
  • It works to empower elected women Sarpanchs, members, representatives of various committees, and women leaders for leadership roles.
  • In 1997, the ANANDI organization began its work in Shihor.
  • Later in 2009, with the support of ANANDI, Mahila Swaraj Manch was established as an autonomous institution.

Event Highlights

  • A special program was organized on March 8 to mark International Women's Day.
  • The event also celebrated the successful completion of 17 years of Mahila Swaraj Manch with great enthusiasm.
  • The primary objective was to recognize women's contributions in social, economic, and political fields as a symbol of their fight for respect, power, and equal rights.
  • The program commenced with a warm welcome and a welcome song by President Raiyaben Rathod and Hiraben Solanki.

Recognition and Inspiration

  • Founder members Hiraben Solanki and Sumitraben Thakkar shared the 17-year journey, highlighting key milestones, achievements, and struggles.
  • Elected women representatives, excellent women leaders, and workers were honored for their contribution to strengthening women's leadership and the overall development of villages.
  • Founder members were also specially honored for their invaluable contribution to the organization's growth.
  • Former Sarpanchs and Panchayat members shared their struggles and experiences, providing guidance and inspiration to other women.

    • Sejalben Dand and Nitaben Hardikar (Founders of ANANDI).
    • Sumitraben Thakkar.
    • Professor Ranjanben Gohil (Smt. Gandhi Women's College).
    • Ilaben Trivedi (Secretary, Bhavnagar Mahila Mandal).
    • Mitaben Pandit (Ashirwad Foundation) and Jayaben Chavda (Utthan Sanstha).
    • Varshaben Pandya (Trustee) and Faridaben Padhiyar (Advocate).
  • A large number of participants attended, including 25 women Panchayat members, 30 members of the Women's Protection Committee, 30 members of the Balika Panchayat, and 30 women leaders.

Conclusion

  • This program further strengthened the commitment of Mahila Swaraj Manch towards women's empowerment and equal rights.
  • It provided a new direction for efforts to bring women forward at the village level.
